Necton sits on open, slightly elevated ground south-west of Dereham, and its older brick-built properties are left carrying chimney stacks that now do nothing except leak and deteriorate.
The village has a good number of traditional Norfolk red-brick houses dating from the late 19th and early 20th century, many originally heated entirely by coal. The stacks on these properties are often substantial — two or three pots wide — and once the internal fireplaces are gone, they become dead weight on the roof structure. Exposed to the winds that sweep across the Breckland margins, pointing fails faster here than in more sheltered spots.
A full chimney take-down removes the risk entirely. We demolish the stack in controlled lifts, bag all the rubble for removal, and reinstate the roof covering to a weathertight finish. Necton is well within our regular working area from Dereham — ask us for a free no-obligation quote.
